I’m a photographer based in Portugal. I take pictures when the sun is shining —so in a way, you could say I’m a sunlit photographer.

For my photographs, I choose deep emerald green tones and the textures of old vintage film to evoke a sense of nostalgia. But the main character is always sunlight. It symbolizes a bright kind of melancholy, warmth, and inner energy. Light leaks and flares create hazy visual forms, like memories. My photographs are about summer, heartache, and inner light.

As a child, my parents used to send me to spend the summer holidays with my grandparents in their countryside home. I’ve carried with me the warm memories of sunlight dancing on the surface of the lake, the southern wind, the whisper of grapevines, and the scent of sweet apricots. Those were days of complete freedom and oneness with nature. But in the evenings, I often felt a deep loneliness and longing for home — I was living among people who weren’t close to me. I had no one to share my sadness with. Since then, the most beautiful and touching moments have always carried a certain bitterness — an unexplainable heartache and solitude, yet at the same time, a piercing sense of inner strength and freedom.

I cherish this state — when you feel the world more intensely in all its contradictions. And I strive to capture these emotions in my photographs.
